It's not rocket science…if you want to raise money you need a hook.
Our hook is the merchancise that we sell in the market place. We
make necklaces, scarves, and shrugs that we hope will appeal to women of all
ages. We take this merchandise on the road and present the mission to any
and all. that was good for a time but there are only two of us and only
one is really talented. So…we moved to the next level. We engaged
local women in the process, taught them the skills and now we have a larger
production staff. Well, they're not really staff, they're volunteers, to
whom we owe much gratitude. The next phase consists of teaching the women of
the Bateys to fish rather than giving them fish. In other words, we
taught the women of the Bateys the skills and now they are making the
merchandise and selling it to the various missioninaries that come and go.
That is how Art by the Heart, mission to women and children in poverty
has evolved.
